Dear Group:  I have used a similar technique for years....I have used old hardwood pallets painted with creosote in years past, now with environmentally-friendly oil-based paints, upon which a tripod is mounted.  These are then weighted down with concrete blocks that can be stacked up around the tripod and further guyed down as needed....Small beams, Maypole type multiple-band dipoles and verticals have been mounted in this fashion and have endured many years of Minnesota winters....good luck hoisting up concrete blocks up the side of buildings too....I have installed this type of antenna system for HandiHams  and on our hospital as well...they work great...only one came down with small beam up 15 ft above roof with winds over 100 mph......ps  you may wish to reinforce the pallet with 5/8 "lag bolts to hold it together and sometimes put marine plywood over the pallet deck..this keeps it up off the often graveled roof surface and prevents moisture-related rot.....good luck ... david l justis md, kn0s
