True, and you don't have to know how to operate them either - they
operate you! I really enjoy the knob-twiddling interaction, all that
dipping and peaking and the smell of dust burning off the tubes as
they heat up. You can read a book by the light of the 811s in the Zeus
modulator deck. Those Yaecomwoods have too many tiny buttons and they
break easily.

I missed a nice Squire-Sanders setup from a fellow up in the northern
part of the state a few years back. Receiver, speaker, panadaptor I
think. He wanted to trade for a spare 51S-1 I had, but before we got
together he got hosed trading the whole thing off for a Collins S-Line
that claimed to be 75S-3C and 32S-3A but was really built from parts
and never worked right. Sure do wish he'd waited.I bet he does, too.

Gotta say that I have no S-S experience, but the Interceptor works
great and is even quieter than the Venus. I thought it was deaf until
I came across a signal, then it jumped to life. Not a lot of VHF AM
around here though, so I use it mostly with the Allbander to listen in
on 75. As for Lulus, I only have the lonely transmitter still seeking
its receiver mate....
