Thanks so all of you who answered about my little Amp. I waited quite some
while to see if any relays keyed up under the delay, and they did not. I'll
give it another try this morning. Its been many years since I worked with
High Voltage, so Im extra careful. I dont want to forget and reach for
something and get big surprise. I have attempted to measure the high
voltage yet, but I think it is coming on. When I hit the high voltage
switch I get a little flicker of the light on the desk, so its putting a
load on the 110 mains. Im suspecting the two relays on top of the chassis,
which appears to me that one keys the other one. I may try taking 12 volts
and seeing if they will key each one by themselves.
To be probably 40 years old the old amp looks good. Thats not saying the
filter capacitors are any good, but at least they have blown up yet. I do
have the manual too, in like new condition. It is a project I intend to
make work, I have tried cleaning the contacts of the relays that are exposed
(open) on top and bottom of the chassis. Of course that has nothing to do
with their opening and closing properly.
I'll keep working at it, and perhaps in a few days you will get a success
story.
73 and thanks again for your help and suggestions, keep those cards and
letters coming if you think of anything else.
