Tom,

The SB1 & SB2 vary in which is LSB, or USB depending on whether the
9 mhz is added to or subtracted from. So with a CE modified BC-458, LSB
on 160M is SB2, and is SB1 on 80m. Yes a source of a lot of confusion!!

  80m SB1 = LSB ( 9 - 5.5 = 3.5 Mhz)
160m SB2 = LSB [(2 X 5.5) - 9] = 2 Mhz
40m SB2 = LSB [(3 X 5.5) -9] = 7 Mhz
20m SB2 = USB ( 9 + 5.5) = 14.5 Mhz

(methinks!)
