Hi Ron,
Questions:
1. Is the 15 watts about what I should expect? or should I be looking for
more drive from the 9 MHz osc.?
That sounds typical to me. With higher line voltage, you might get closer to
20 watts. You can get more oscillator drive by substituting the 6U8 with a
6MU8.
2. Is the -35 dB about what I should expect for the 2nd harmonic?
I'm not sure, but I'd say so. On 80m, the 5 Mhz VFO bleeds through some, and
despite the L-C trap, it is there. Looking at a 20a with a modern spectrum
analyzer yields surprising results ;-)
3. Can I expect that the tuned circuit in the antenna tuner when it is
hooked up will also suppress the harmonic more?
I'd run the rig through a tuner, or use a one band resonant antenna.
