[Central-Electronics] 6AG7 selfdestruction

Steve:
In the 10B service bulletins, there was a change notice that moved a
parasitic suppressor from the grid circuit of the 6AG7, to the plate
circuit. The same situation exists in the 10A. Anyway, I'm guessing that the
6AG7 had some parasitic problems that eventually caused CE to make the
change. I'm certain that the change info is available on BAMA. If it has not
been done in your unit, that may be the answer!

As for the tubes, I have a bunch of Motorola 6AG7's, and a few RCA's. The
RCA tubes invariably put out more power, but not a lot more. Not sure what
the long term characteristics are in either case.

Good luck & happy new year!

I hope some people monitor this reflector. I haven't seen any traffic
here is quite some time. Well, it happened for the second time . The 6AG7
tube in my CE 10B shorted and took out the 100 ohm 5 watt resistor plus the
rf choke. I got about a year or two of operation out of this 6AG7. It was an

RCA tube. Someone once told me that there was a particular brand of 6AG7
that was good to use in the 10a/10b/20a rigs . Does anyone remember?

73 & Happy New Year,
