Hi group,
Since my last post, I've checked into the weekly Collins collector group
(Thursday 3875 8pm Central) three times, and the AM group (3880 9 PM first
wed. of month; I copy WA0LSB net control extremely well in Austin) twice
using my QRO'd Central electronics 20A + Gonset GSB-201 linear. Reports have
been good, and they always wanted to know more about the CE rig I was
running. The audio, or maybe the novelty of CE equipment seems to stand out
(in a nice way), and peak the interest of Collins collectors. Two days ago,
Jim WA0LSB said I had the best AM audio that night, and I was competing with
all plate modulated rigs like Viking 500's, Collins 32V's, and a few KW-1's.
Who says low level AM is inferior to plate modulated AM?
There is only one problem. Apparently the rest of the guys with CE
equipment are searching Ebay, or watching CNN, and not making themselves
heard on the bands....maybe I'll hear some of you guys next Thursday on 3875
(LSB)? I have never heard a 100V/200V on the air....
:-)
Regards,
Jim
