I have the GPR-90, matching speaker and GSB-1.
Without a doubt this setup is the best sounding ham/
communicatios receiver I have ever heard. That is, on
SSB. It is very good on AM also, but outstanding
on SSB. SSB sounds just like good AM.
My comparison is to, among others, 75A-4, SX-100,
SX-24, SX-28, Drake 2-B, Yaesu FT101EE, Hammarlunds
HQ-180, HQ-170, HQ-110, SP-600, Nationals HRO-50,
HRO-60, Many Heathkits, Collins 75S-1, KWM-2,
KWM2-A, and add to those many R-390's that I
no longer own, and there are all those other types I still have,
but I don't believe anyone ever claimed to sound good.
Besides , the GPR-90 sounding good and looking absolutely great,
beautiful, and compared to others it is easy to tune, however,
it also likes to wander frequency-wise for about
the first 3 - 4 hours. Alas! It fails perfection.
So ... What do I say as to using a GSB-1 with CE gear?
I can only make presumptions, from how it works with the
GPR-90..
I have a CE SideBander I have yet to try, but I have
only had them 3 -4 years. Give me time.
Is there any reason the Sidebanders would not work with the
SX-25, SX-28, SX-16 and other such Hallicrafters?
What about the Heathkit SB-10s?
