Hello All,
Below note passed from AI4TD,Tim, about Skywarn activation. FYI, the
Skywarn freqs can be found here:

http://www.erh.noaa.gov/lwx/skywarn/subnet.html

Look for the purple which is Southern Maryland. In addition to the
local CHAS simplex freq of 146.535Mhz that RO Mike Tackish (KA3GRW)
provided via an earlier email, there is also the:

146.610Mhz that is often used by PG ARES
145.230- pl 110.9 up in PG area
146.745- pl 107.2 King George County

While there may not be active nets on these repeaters, the
local hams may be giving local reports on conditions.

Good morning all,

Hope everyone has been able to keep safe and dry. I have had a few discussions with NWS
concerning Skywarn activation. We have decided to activate Skywarn effective noon today. The
activation could run 24-36 hours. So now is the time to make sure you systems are ready and think
about volunteering for NCS or DeskOps. We will especially need help during the late night/early
morning hours. This is a great time for folks who have been thinking about one or both of those
positions to jump in and help. There is nothing like on the job training!

This is going to be a very different type of activation. We will be looking for the typical
summer storm reports, but for those of us out west, we might need to call in typical winter
reports. In my 8+ years of Skywarn that is a first!

As with any type of storm situation, please check on your neighbors, friends and family especially
those who live alone, you can't get around, etc. especially since the high winds will probably
cause wide area power outages.

Thank you for all your support. Keep safe, keep dry and keep those reports coming in.

Thanks,

Tim Dennison
