 Emergency Road Closure

SUMMARY:
Effective immediately, Bel Alton Newtown road from Charles st in LaPlata to Crain highway in 
Bel Alton is closed. This is due to a tree down entangled with wires. With the extreme 
dangerous weather conditions, SMECO cannot send crews out until at least 4 am. The Charles 
County Department of Emergency Services urges citizens to practice extreme caution and to 
remain indoors and off the road for the duration of this storm.
