Darryl and everyone:
This is Rick Pike, President of the Cobb Island Citizens Association.
We are once again very happy the Charles County Amateur Radio Club will
be with us for Cobb Island Day. If there is anything you need during
your visit, please let me know. Darryl will have a special contact
phone for me on Friday afternoon and night, and during the day on Saturday.
FYI -- the porta-john will be on the field Friday mid-day, and the
Firehouse around the corner (2 min walk) had bathrooms that can be used
by you. Also, to supplement your picnic dinner and breakfast, the Cobb
Island Market is open until 9pm and has fresh pizza and ice cream and
ice cream treats. On Saturday morning, the Cobb Island Gallery and
Coffeehouse directly next to where you will be broadcasting is opening
early with a selection of coffees and breakfast pastries for sale.
Darryl, if you'd see me on Saturday morning at the CICA tent (setup
begins around 7:30am) we want to make a sign directing people over to
talk to you, and also keep a running tally of your furthest radio
"contacts" during Cobb Island Day weekend.
We really appreciate that you folks come each year, and help us
celebrate not only Cobb Island, but one of the birthplaces of radio.
See you on Friday night!
Rick Pike
