For what it is worth, I wish to go on record to state that the reason
that I did not request consideration for nomination as Activities
Director is for precisely the reasons that Bob has stated in his email.
This appears to be a case of the ARES/RACES group trying to grab for the
gusto.

When I first considered becoming a member of the CCARC I did some
research into the club. This was accomplished by reading back through
the old archived newsletters. Seems to me as I sit here nearly a year
after joining that the very reason that the ARES/RACES group "split"
from the main body of the club was that they were trying to "run the
club" and there was considerable bad feelings involved. While I am sure
it was somewhat more complicated (and emotional) than that - it did seem
that there was quite some bad blood between these two groups.

This has been continued through the attacks on the past President
(regardless of what your impressions of what he wrote) and his
subsequent resignation. Since that point there has been an underlying
impression of the ARES group taking over. Why do I say this? Take into
consideration that when I assumed the job as a club officer the Board
meeting was held on Wednesday evenings. Almost immediately the board
meetings moved, not only to Tuesday night's - but to the very same
location as the ARES meeting Tuesday night. So much for separation. I
echo Bob's comments. We may as well change the name of the club to the
CC ARES RACES club and get it over with.

In the face of anyone else being elected as President/Vice President I
would consider accepting a nomination for activities director.

Don Munson, W4GFQ
