Subject: MDC Section Members - A clear-line of communication – COVID-19
MDC Section Members,
It is unfortunate and frustrating but reassuring to know our MDC Section ARCs, ARES®, VECs, Event Coordinators and members are making informed and rational decisions to protect fellow Hams and our communities by avoiding possible COVID-19 contact.
Consequence management is what is going on in your community and how are they reacting. You know your community and you manage your group effectively so let us work together to achieve clear perception of current changes and then project a successful outcome.
Have clear-lines of communication and identifying the methods and frequency (not kHz/MHz) you plan to use to communicate with your members, State & County & Community Partners and public facing correspondence (e.g. Social Media and Websites). Consider using Telecom or Ham radio or a ‘knock-on-the-door’ to reach participates not using digital information.
As we share situational information, then apply consequence management, we will have a full picture of our readiness; additionally, to better support our served agencies and community leaders.
Call your local EmComm partners to identify any unmet needs. Please review your Action and Continuity Plans for connection with Emergency Support Function #13 – Public Safety. Suggest that your team brief-up on NIMS and the National Planning Frameworks. More information is found on the FEMA website.
During these fluid situations be mindful of disinformation, Phishing, Scams and attempts to gain access to your Personally Identifiable Information [PII] or Social Media accounts. Do not discuss your medical info or personal-info on-the-air.
Continue to show community support by halting Hamfests, Radio Training and VE Testing - find alternate methods to meet your expectations. Our sincere thanks for canceling your events already.
Until the all-clear returns to the MDC Section – Staff will not attend Ham related activities.
