The following is the consensus within MEMA And Local Jurisdictions
including our EM Staff in Calvert.
The track Matthew is projected to take will take it along the Florida Coast
and brush the South Carolina and North Carolina coasts but not to the
extent forecasted earlier in the week. Matthews is then projected to track
to the east and south and remain out to sea through the weekend and well
into next week. The weather services have a VERY HIGH confidence the
Mid-Atlantic will feel no effects from Matthew this weekend or into
mid-week next week. The only reason the weather services cannot totally
discount impacts is the timeline exceeds their forecast guidelines.
We will receive some rain and possible blustery winds this weekend but
these will not be from Matthew but from a wave of high pressure moving
through the area. We could experience winds in the 20 to 25 mph range with
intermittent rain from this disturbance.
With this updated forecast this will be the last scheduled update from
Emergency Management on this storm. Emergency Management staff will
continue to monitor the forecasts and if needed we will send updates to all
if conditions change.
In an abundance of caution we will continue to have the 1130am Statewide
Weather conference calls but as I said EM Staff will monitor and update if
conditions change.
Please maintain any plans you have in place in preparation for this storm
so in the event we are thrown a curve ball we can pick right up were we
left off.
