Hi ALL,

Just got off phone with Bill/N3XMZ. We will be having a meeting on Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM (Local) . Between now & then Bill & I plan to bring our WinLink Stations to the meeting to demo. We also need to discuss EmComms for our hurricane season which includes August, September and early October timeframe. This is when we are most apt to have a weather event(s) and EmComm activation.

That could be a very interesting meeting agenda. Wayne spoke of Winmor
with all its use and we would be using this mode at a past meeting. Maybe a workshop meeting would be useful. with a couple of radios, tnc's (if required) power supplies, lap tops magnetic antennas with some cookie sheets and the associated cables we could set up two stations and actually work from different rooms. that is of course we could hit Wayne's node from Prince Frederick. Anyway good thought Dave and something to think about Dennis.... Bill for an upcoming meeting. thanks for the input Shawn, would like to see the AX-25 protocol in action.

I think this would be good, but what type of network are we talking about? Suggest we use WINMOR (the Winlink 2000 client software) and try to get "peer-to-peer" mode running, which allows a direct connect between two stations without using a gateway.

But I don't believe WINMOR allows peer-to-peer multi-connects (more than two stations in communications at the same time). There are some special amateur radio packet protocols that support multi-connects while preserving the error detection/correction capabilities, but I don't think they are in wide use or very well supported.

If the radio link is strong (good signal to noise), the old AX-25 protocol built into most packet modems allows for multi-station conversations with minimal errors.

Just a suggestion; since we want an email network for emcomm throughout the county, why not use these meetings to get everyone interested hooked up and running. Then we could have online meetings via our own net. Or this could be a subgroup at a different meeting. I know I need a little more handholding to get my rig working.

Karl,

I don't know. Unless I get a positive confirmation by email/radio/phone a day before the meetings, I don't make plans to attend.

I was the only one who showed up for the meeting, tonight. Did I get the day wrong, or was it cancelled?
