well here is what i think. i am located here in southern california,
pretty much right between Oat and Frazier Mts in the santa clarita
valley. i am sure Brent that i will be talking about the same repeater
system that you are. this guy has been one hell of a pain with his damn
remote base on Frazier. which by the way is the WORNG mountain to have a
stearable remote base on. oh yeah he says on his website that so that he
is a "good" neighbor to the other agencies at his sites so that he has
cavities on his repeater even though he has seperate rx - tx antennas.
well thats really neato and stuff but how does he handle that "ham
grade"' transiever that he uses for his remote. i think it might be an
ICOM 901 but i might be wrong. either way you know that these
transcievers arent nearly as clean as commercial equipment. it is known
that these remotes up there have caused interferecne to other agencies
up there. not only does that remote get turnd onto 146.52 from there but
it is also been turned to 52.525. and it has been turned on on 440 to
remote to a repeater in the san jaquine (forgot how its spelled) valley
that is on a flop of a 440 repeater in the san fernando valley. i have
heard it on the output of this repeater here. now if you are going to go
hop in your car and drive on a mountain and call CQ on 146.52, 52.525,
or 446.000 then ok. why not. no big thing really. but to have a remote
base up there is not very smart. not to mention a steerable remote on a
mountain that have a large amount of other recievers on it. 146.49 is a
simplex freq that is pretty much FOR remote bases. they should leave it
that way. i agree with you brent. keep them off of there.

now as for SCRRBA doing some educating. well yeah right. i personaly
dont think much of them at all but whatever. thats just my thoughts of
them. you can tell the owners of these remotes to please stay off there
but i doubt that they will heed to it and if they did who is to say that
the large amount of users on these systems will do the same. most of
these people are just DTMF happy anyways if you ask me. they think it is
"TOTALY AWSOME DUDE" that they can do a bunch of stuff with a pipo pad.
i mean its cool and all but give it a rest sometimes.

thats my thoughts.
