Good morning all,
I've been looking at some of the offerings of CNC routers aimed
at the hobbyist, and wondering how useful they are at cutting
sheet metal for making various radio related things, brackets,
sheilds, that sort of thing.
Mostly I use a hacksaw and file on .040 to .062 sluminum.
It seems that the information I've found is aimed at the woodworkers.
They mention that the machines can be used for metal, but gloss over
or ignore that aspect. The only video I"ve seen on cutting sheet metal
only looked at very thin pieces, like shim stock.
Also, based on research so far, I'm not looking at the $200 range
systems, but the $500 plus units.
SO the question is:
Does anyone have any experience in using these machines for sheet
metal usage? Mostly cutting sheet aluminum in the .032 to .062 range,
but could they also be used for up to .125 for rack panels and such?
Or should I just stick with the hacksaw and file?
