Hi Scott,
I believe there was also the NC-140 and NC190 in the cosmic blue.
Send an email to Dave, WA6VVL. He is the 270 expert. I do recall that the transformer runs very hot and the selectivity mechanism is often "out of kilter" and not easy to realign. His articles are in ER magazine, and often times back issues are available from the editor- N0DMS.
I have owned the 190 and 270 and enjoyed both. The son of a wealthy dentist had one with a Ranger as his first station. His shack was a converted boathouse with all windows looking out on Keuka Lake in NY. Within 1 mile along Keuka's shore were three teenage hams. We always gathered at Joab's shack/boathouse. Pete and I were in awe and the cosmic blue has been stuck in my head ever since.

Subject: [Boatanchors] National Cosmic Blue Receivers

Today I was researching for an article, and came across a photo of a National NC-270 “Cosmic Blue” receiver. The receiver was absolutely gorgeous! I was vaguely aware of them, but this color photo was stunning.

I’m curious now. How well did the NC-270 or NC-155 Cosmic Blue receiver work? Gads, if they work as good as they look, they must be the best radio in the world… hi hi. The styling is superb!

Does anyone here own one and can comment on it?

I believe the receiver has a matching Cosmic Blue speaker that also has the bail that flip down and tilts the radio up. That set up is so cool.

Thanks. 73 Scott WA9WFA
