I built a power supply for a 122 VFO once, that had two VRs in series.
I can't remember which type I used but they were the miniatures.  I
pulled them out a short time after using the supply because they
weren't needed, and the 122 has a VR tube in it anyway.  If the VF1
has a VR in it then having one in the power supply is probably
unnecessary.
