I wish you nothing but the best success. I too intend to be around
for a while yet (God willing) and I love tube gear and confess to a
certain amount of improper smugness over the hand wringing taking
place because the new Ten Tec owner isn't repairing the old Ten Tec
gear. One of the reasons I chose to go backwards to tubes was
because of solid state obsolescence. I have the highest admiration
for the vintage RTTY operators. To me that is real RTTY; the ham who
gave me my Novice test was a RTTY op., back when it was all
Kleinschmidt gear. Once a ham puts a ceiling high rig into
transmit and experiences its continuous duty power, he immediately
knows there's no going back to all that dinky table top plastic stuff.
