The GR-81 regen short wave receiver has separate connections for a "long"
and a "short" antenna. Looking at the schematic, the 'short' connection
bypasses the input LC filtering, but goes directly to the regenerative
detector.
Why is this?
I understand why shorter antennas are used to decrease blocking from nearby
high power stations, but what is the electrical reason to bypass the input
LC filtering, and run a signal directly into the regenerative detector w/o
the advantage of some prefiltering?
I would think the potential for 'blocking' would be higher bypassing the
front end coils.
I apologize if I asked this question before, but forgot about it.
Thanks. 73 Scott WA9WFA
