[Boatanchors] A Classic Example of the Homebrew Art

I'm a sucker for any of those portable rigs!   This one is especially
nice and looks like a good design.  Re-purposing the portable radio
cabinet was genius!

A while back I posted a couple of articles from Electronics Illustrated
magazine from the 60s, this all-in-one always fascinated me and still does:

The construction method used - three separate chassis behind a common
panel - would be do-able by most hams who built equipment back then.
No professional lab here, and all the parts were sourced from the usual
catalog sources.

This one is also built into a small suitcase, but was a real Erector Set
design, still something that could be built by the average ham with
basic tools:

You have to admire the skill of the artists who drew the pictorial
assembly drawings showing all the components sort of floating in space,
and how they are connected.    The result is about as close to
Heathkit-quality instructions as it got and no doubt inspired many
builders who were intimidated by the ARRL Lab quality construction.

Hopefully the Google Drive settings are still open to allow sharing, I
seem to get that wrong about half the time.    They are individual page
scans so you'll have to click through them to read in sequence.    I'll
pdf them some day.
