Only to look through old magazines and handbooks for whatever
plans there are. I remember seeing some designs.
Also check on the standard sizes for rack panels. Depth
varies with equipment, most will fit a space with 15" clearance
but some gear, for instance, an SP-600-JX or RCA AR-88, need 20
inches. Perhaps some transmitters.
Some old ARRL handbooks and Radio Handbooks have plans for
floor or desk racks. Can be made entirely of wood or of angle
metal angle stock and wood. Remember that some gear is heavy and
needs support at the rear was well as from the front panel. Also
keep in mind the necessity for cable clearance and ways to get
cables out the front (for mic or key etc).
    Also, don't forget about ventilation.
