The WRL UM-1 Universal Modulator uses a 6U8 tetrode-triode
as speech amplifier stages and a pair of 6L6GB in Class AB1
push-pull as a plate modulator capable of 45 Watts output.
It matches a wide variety of load impedances. It looks to be
very similar in function to the Eico 730 modulator which has
a slightly higher (50 Watt) output.

The WRL SM-90 is a two tube, 12AX7 speech amp and 12AU7
driver/screen modulator.

In 2013 at Ft. Wayne IN hamfest, a fellow was selling a WRL modulator
that went with one of their small CW rigs, the kind that ran a pair of
807s or a 6146 or whatever was at that power level. I recall it was
a small chassis with at least two glass miniature tubes, about the
size of 6BQ5s. He said it was very rare. I'm not a collector so I
looked at it briefly as a curiosity and moved on. Maybe that was it.
