Those desoldering "suckers" are hazardous to the health of solid state devices!
Apparently, most of them create high static voltages when used.
Per FAA and Pace High Reliability Soldering courses.

That's my experience too.   After replacing the heater that the liar who
sold it to me swore was good but was open, buying all the other
disposables, etc. I got it to work but sure have never shared the
enthusiasm other have for it.   Plugs up after a few uses and more of a
pain than it's worth and is seldom used.

What works best for me is the good old Aven Tools all aluminum
desoldering pump, which is self-cleaning, needs no warm up time, and
always does the job.   Plus it's a bargain at  the 1970s price of $6.28
and in stock at DigiKey:
