Among my many soldering devices is a soldering iron powered by a gas
cartridge (butane?).

It works well where soldering is necessary and electricity is not available
(or I forgot to charge the battery one).

I guess it's the modern descendant of those that were directly heated in a
fire.

Just wondering what the typical melting point of the solder used in those
days was...
