[Boatanchors] G.R. 1606 A Bridge Question

I don't want to open my bridge to look at it and am not sure
from the photo in the handbook but by memory this is
non-inductive resistor wound on a mica card. I have had similar
GR resistors open up at the terminals. Try resoldering and
inspect it for a broken wire. I have had to replace GR wire wound
resistors where they were damaged when the instrument was removed
from the case. If the resistor is open you will read some
capacitance. You can try a film resistor in its place to see if
the bridge works but it may not have the correct residual
reactances.

It reads capacitance but is open in resistance. Is this actually a resistor? Special made.? Thanks, Al, W4TUK
