I think we have to remember that we US hams are not the only occupants of 40 meters. Many countries have far less available spectrum on 40 than we in the US enjoy. Some of that digi activity is foreign (and yes some is non-Amateur as well). Having, for instance, only 100 Kc of 40M space, how would you allocate activity? Remember that CW is not the only mode, regardless of what us CW ops think. Our setup on 40 here in the US – think incentive licensing - is not very compatible with much of the rest of the world, so we really have to learn to live with it, or petition for change. Encroachment into "our" world of the spectrum is inevitable. Upgrade if you haven’t already to gain that extra 25 Kc. Radio signals don’t respect international boundaries.
I am a dyed-in-the-wool CW op, no computer or other digital modes here, but we need to learn to live with reality, and make our noise wherever there's room.

GM,
Just curious about this. Why are there digital stations now operating around +/- 7050kc.
Activity is there most days. Some seem to be incessantly transmitting while others may
be having a QSO. I thought those type of stns usually operated farther up the band. Not
saying they can't operate in this area, but just wondering why they picked this well known
and used cw freq to operate when there is plenty of room up in the normal rtty/dig. part
of the band. Also another wad of 'em down around 7040kc or so.
