[Boatanchors] Digital Around 7050kc

Just curious about this. Why are there digital stations now operating around +/- 7050kc. 
Activity is there most days. Some seem to be incessantly transmitting while others may 
be having a QSO. I thought those type of stns usually operated farther up the band. Not 
saying they can't operate in this area, but just wondering why they picked this well known 
and used cw freq to operate when there is plenty of room up in the normal rtty/dig. part 
of the band. Also another wad of 'em down around 7040kc or so.
