My thought is that baluns (and few companies are making baluns- most are just transformers with no or little common mode rejection) if not operated at their design impedance will have unspecified loss. I think you would be much better served by a good balanced input tuner.

Hoping to get my open wire W7FG doublet (125') up this weekend (trueladderline.com).
A 3' length of coax runs from the AT2KD through the wall into a weatherproof junction box (arrestor and balun w/open wire terminals).
Last week I picked up a Kilowatt Matchbox as part of a lot which included a HW-100 and PS ("Grandpa talked to Australia on it").
Should I consider using the Matchbox instead?
If I did use the Matchbox, would it be necessary to bring the ladder line into the shack?
Trying to catch up on everything I didn't learn while away from the hobby for 50 years.......
