I don't operate 40 m. except CW.  I wouldn't bother with phone (AM).

75 and 160 work a lot better for phone and CW (not DX).   Maybe not so
much now for 160, but fall and winter will be here eventually.  The
action seems to be down low, unless you have an enormous beam stack
and/or want to watch a computer operate FT8.  I'm not even bothering
with operating now; it's all about being outside, home maintenance and
hamfests, and radio repair projects.  Too much QRN.
Some guys are doing E skip on 10 and 6 m. AM.
