The big thing with those green pads, unlike a toothbrush, is twofold:

they seem to have intentionally sharp edges, which toothbrushes avoid.

and you can cut them into bits and they still stick together. This means
you can stick the bits into sockets and they reach out to scrape the sides

Hi Doug,

Those Scotch Brite pads seem to be about the same as a toothbrush but of 
course with a different form factor.
