I can resist it. What kind of customer support do they have? Every
additional gadget usually involves hours of wasted time and
frustration. Of course some people have a higher boiling point than
I have. The older I get, the more valuable my time becomes, and the
less interest I have in pissing it away on some cheap crappy doo dad.
Sometimes a new gadget gets about 10 minutes of probation before I
chuck it in the garbage so I can get back to enjoying life. This is
something kids don't understand.
The AADC instrument was fairly easy to assemble, and involved four or
five buttons and a display. I can handle that. I can handle tubes
and older solid state that has knobs. I can't handle phone menus and
spending an hour on the phone with someone who is the gate keeper for
the competent people who can actually help me. The way to avoid that
is to avoid gadgets. I've spent too much time on this email. Back
to working on a 410B.
