Another consideration, is it a true cigarette lighter. Some new cars
have an accessory power plug and not a cigarette lighter. The cigarette
lighter will have a lighter in the socket a power plug will have a cap
or door over the plug. If it is a true lighter it will have a metal
shell if it is plastic it is a power plug. If it is a lighter it should
be fused for 15 amps and a power plug will normally be from 7.5 to 10
amps. If it is a true lighter you can tap the back side of the plug. I
would add a noise filter and a battery saver. The battery saver will
shut the radio off after a settable time. It will make your ride home
much more enjoyable.
