[Boatanchors] Solar brand mica capacitors 5 dot color code.

The dipped micas are not prone to the silver mica disease, which is dependant
on sulfur from the air. The dipping does prevent it. If you use ceramic,
in most RF cases you need stability, i.e. C0G, which usually these days means
surface mount parts
As an aside, I also collect rocks. You can make incredible things of silver wires
by heating a lump of silver in a sulfur atmosphere. Wires up to a foot long
can grow up! These are sold as fakes for ones from the earth selling for
$100,000! Google Freiberg Wire Silver.

This isn't going to be much help I'm afraid, but no one else as
answered so maybe this is better than nothing. There are around 4 or
5 different sets of dot codes but the whole thing is so byzantine,
that I just replace any of those old postage stamp micas, because it
seems like half the time they leak. If you have a schematic or parts
list for whatever you're working on, I'd replace them with ceramic
caps for RF or polypropylene film caps if audio. Of course you can go
with new dipped micas, but then you get into the silver migration
problem again.
