I don't know which arm of Northern Radio was involved.  BUT, Northern Radio made the SP-600 Variant which was a Diversity Receiver System.  I have one here.  It goes up into 6 meters.

Three, if you count Northern Electric Co. of Canada, which you will find often if you search eBay for either of the other two! This Northern made consumer products but in essence was the Canadian manufacturing arm of Western Electric and made products primarily for the Bell Telephone Co. of Canada.   It is more recently known as Northern Telecom, Nortel, Nortel Networks, and some products live on today, in  Avaya, for example.  The complete and quite interesting history can be found here:
