The hottest thing going out here now is DMR (no I don't have one). A
bunch of the local hams have bought those under $100 "Radioddity" HT's,
then spend much more time writing and rewriting the codeplugs (memories)
for them than they do talking on them. Then have to meet up on the local
2M/440 repeater where everyone hangs out to contact each other to "move
over to the DMR repeater".
When one of them tells me "I just worked Greece (or whatever)", I just
laugh at them and tell them, "no, you just worked the local DMR repeater
then connected to the Internet"!!!
