Sounds like a Mallory Inductuner. It was used in television sets way
back when. It offered continuous tuning from channel 2 (or a little
below) up to channel 13. This included FM broadcast and 2 meters. It
makes an interesting VHF converter for 6, 2, high band and FMBC

> I have a variable inductor that is about the size of a Collins PTO overall. Has three tubes, three sections of 1 inch roller inductors, totally shielded. On the front it has gearing like the 51J3 (R388) receiver and has both course and fine tune.
