I have one question about the mechanics of signing this (or any) petition.
Text on the screen said that if you signed the petition, to validate that
you were the actual signer, an email would be sent to the email address that
you gave. And that the email would contain a link to click to validate.

I signed, and within a few seconds had an email. In it was a place to
click, which I did. Nothing appeared to happen. Should there have been
some response, maybe a note saying something like "Validated". Or maybe
"thank you for signing"? When I hover the mouse pointer over the clickable
area, I see what could be a valid url, followed by about four screen inches
of ASCII characters.

I've just been informed there is another petition filed on the same
White House petition site.

Sorry about that, the site isn't designed all that well for displaying
current and open petitions or a search option or anything useful. (our
tax dollars at work) It shows mostly closed petitions first based on
popularity not status. Kinda dumb. So I missed it when I first looked.

Here's the link to the first petition which presently has more
signatures and may have a better chance at going through if the White
House site actually does pay attention to what the people want.

Let's hope somebody in our govt. pays attention to what people find
important.
