Do an eBay search. There is a chap who makes caps with a lot more radiating surface that will cool the tube better. I bought a new but cannibalized Drake L-75 that was missing the 3-500z and the plate cap.

Subject: [Boatanchors] Need 4-400A Plate Cap
The 4-400A I have is now missing its plate cap. The plate line that comes out from the inside of the tube is 1/8" diameter. The Eimac plate cap slid down onto this to yield a useable place cap (about 3/8") but also belled out below that to cover the glass to metal seal.
The one in question here had a large finned heat dissipating cap on it but was stuck to the Eimac part. I gave up trying to separate them and just removed the whole thing. This leaves me with a 1/8" plate wire sticking up.
If someone has one of these in their parts bin, I would like to buy it or at least pay the USPS on it.
Thanks
Doug W5JV
