Bob,

That's an interesting observation about repeaters. Here in the greater
Washington, DC area there must be around 50 repeaters on the various VHF &
UHF bands but mostly 2 meters and from my perspective there is little
activity heard outside the few club weekly nets...
------------------

I've always believed that the majority of repeaters
are erected as a matter of ego, not of need.

The silence of the bizillon repeaters here in the Dallas
area also has to do with, sadly, politics. There's a
small group of "social justice warriors" who, when they
hear something they don't like, call the control
operators and claim false, lying "offense" to bully the
repeater owner into doing their bidding.
Most of the control ops, having been taught modern PC
cowardice, will roll over,
lick the complainer's bottom and silence the speaker.
The SJWs get what they want- no one says anything they
don't like, because few people say anything at all,
and nothing worth the time to listen, save some of
the nets and Skywarn. It's disgusting.

D.S.
