Hi Gary,
I would be inclined to restore it. To me, it's kind of special being a Coast Guard version. Just my 2 cents worth.

Subject: [Boatanchors] Question- R596 receiver
Boatanchors, -- here is one that I am not sure what to do with. I have a
R596 receiver that is not in great condition. This appears to be a coast
guard version of a HRO-60.
A picture of the nameplate is at the link:

There is rust on the cabinet, and the inside of the dial is missing. I
wonder if the dial was removed or supplied that way for security? The
interior of the chassis looks ok, but full restoration would be a project.
I am considering parting it out, and would offer the parts to the list 1st.
Question is, is there any historical or collectors value in saving this? I
ask because I have never seen one in the past, and not much information on
the internet.
Anybody know where these were used? Any opinions to part out or save?
TNX,
Gary
