[Boatanchors] Question- R596 receiver

That is a dead ringer for an HRO-50, except it is a much lighter grey!
Those do NOT have an inside to the dial - if you are referring to the part to the left of the OSC control.  The left hand knob to the "dial" frequency display, is used to rotate the that display to match the frequency of the coilset that has been placed inside.

There is rust on the cabinet, and the inside of the dial is missing.  I
wonder if the dial was removed or supplied that way for security?  The
interior of the chassis looks ok, but full restoration  would be a project.



I am considering parting it out, and would offer the parts to the list 1st.
Question is, is there any historical or collectors value in saving this?  I
ask because I have never seen one in the past, and not much information on
the internet.



Anybody know where these were used? Any opinions to part out or save?
