[Boatanchors] The Silence of the Bands.

All,

Personally, I only wish that I *HAD* an EXTRA receiver to park on ANY band!

Since my purge of all heavy gear, I only have my only transceiver, and ONE old receiver, a Northern Radio Variant SP-600. [ This has NO squelch! ]

Due to the months of Deck Renovation, I have NOT gotten my antennas back up!

I have ONE antenna up half arsed. It is a 40M Double Bazooka. I haven't had the opportunity to rerun my coaxial cables and erect the center mast.

It is rare that I can get down to the Den/Shack to turn things on and listen. The wife and I have significant health issues.

For 10 meters, there was a peak in 2002, it reached bottom about 2007. Peaked again about 2013 and should bottom next year. Then, should march toward peak in 2024. So you never can tell what will happen in between the peaks and valleys. That's why you don't give up. Just keep checking and calling. Doesn't take much time and effort to give a shout. Or park a receiver on the beacons. That's what they do on six meters. Almost all of us have a spare 10 meter rig we can park on a beacon frequency with squelch barely closed. Then when a beacon breaks the squelch, jump on and holler up the band.

It's more than just this.

I think things have become so crappy people have just given up.

We are still about two years away from the end of the current solar cycle.
And the experts expect the next cycle to be worse than this one.

I have given up trying except on contest days. Then I can see how bad it
really is. I will be trying during the CX this Sunday.
