Bill,
Actually, there were two different tuning or dial scales used over the
production life of the TCS. I don't recall the exact details as the only
example of the early one that I had was sent to Australia for a TCS-4 restoration.
But the early sets (I think including TCS-5 because I think that was what
I salvaged a dial from)) had as best I can recall only the logging and the
1.5 to 3.0 scales. The 3.0 to 6.0 and 6.0 to 12.0 scales were added I think
at TCS-6 (one of the non-Collins models), which also added the handles and
the easily removable front panel.
You should be able to use something like Goo Gone to remove the paper scale
from the original TCS-5 dial without damaging the aluminum. Why the
replacement dial is off a MC I couldn't say. Your guess is as good as any. Have
you tried re-aligning the oscillator to match the new dial?
