[Boatanchors] TCS5 Receiver - nagging problem with noise

Guys,
I've been working on a TCS-5 receiver for the Wisconsin. All is well except for a nagging problem with noise on the 6 - 12 Mhz band up around 10 mhz. It aligns good and has good sensitivity but has noise as I tune around 9 - 10 mhz area of the band. It sounds like thunder static, in both AM  and CW. I've ruled out the tuning capacitor, since I can move the noise with the oscillator trimmer adjust..I just wanted to put this out just in case someone has seen this before. If not my next step will be lowering the B+ as suggested by Blair VE6AGH to see if it disappears...could be a leaking cap.
