[Boatanchors] [AWA] Hallicrafters???

I checked all the steering wheel type knobs I have and all of my SX-28's.
All had concentric rings/indentations running around the circumference of
the knob. The pictured knob does not. Additionally the spokes of the
pictured knob are broadside to the front of the knob while every verified
Hallicrafter knob that I looked at has the spokes oriented with the narrow
side of the spoke is facing you when viewed from the front). Thirdly, the
pictured knob appears to have a cutout and a dimple for a pointer indicator
which an original knob would not have. Also, the hubs of the wheel are
attached way to low on the steering wheel. Lastly, although it's difficult
to be sure because of unknown camera angle, the central hub of the pictured
knob and the quarter used for comparison are exactly the same size.
Comparing a quarter to the hubs of my installed knobs, the quarter is
significantly larger. My vote, for what it's worth is that it's not
original equipment and not a case of multiple vendors providing the SX 28
knobs.

Thanks to K4LJH and all who answered my query about eBay steering wheel
knob. 13 replies, so far, varying from definitely yes to definitely no and
many variations in-between. I have several similar knobs that I eventually
hope to sell and I wanted to be certain that they are Hallicrafters before
advertising them as such. Although my unmarked off-brand knobs don't
exactly match the one for-sure genuine Hallicrafters knob that I have (it's
marked Hallicrafters on the back of the rim), it appears that since they all
fit 1/4 inch shafts, I could honestly say that they are useable on radios
such as the SX-28. Apparently there were several suppliers of these knobs
including Gordon, Coto, and Kurz-Kasch.

Mike, Thatt is a Gordon Handwheel / knob made by Gordon Specialties in
Chicago. 1940 ARRl Handbook Page 560.

Is this really a Hallicrafters Knob? Looks to me like a rheostat or
variac knob from which the metal pointer has been removed, and does not have
the Hallicrafters molded-in name under its rim.
