NOTHING seems to be "forever" these days.
Backups to backups to backups, some using different media are about the
only practical way to go.
Even that SD (or other type) memory card in your cell phone has a limited
lifespan.
I was fortunate to be able to recover almost all of one of these XYL used
in her phone - it had pix of the grandkids on it...
