The Southeast Louisiana Amateur Radio Club (SELARC) has two RACAL RA17
receivers with the external 10-930 Khz converters and instruction
manuals available. They have not been tested but are in relatively
complete condition. The club aquired these thru an amateur who had them
but never restored them. These sets are about the size of the Collins
R-388/URR or %!J-2 and 51J3 receivers. All the units use vacuum tubes
and are pre-solid state receivers.
They are both pretty much complete as can be determined from
inspection. If anyone is interested in them, please contact me at the
email address below. These receivers were very good ones and well
designed and cover the 10 khz thru 30 Mhz radio spectrum. They used the
"Wadley Loop" synthesizer system which was rather unique. Cosmetic
condition would be classed as "fair to good" or better once they are
cleaned up. Offers considered from interested parties. These are
located in Hammond, La.
I considered trying to refurbish them as I have worked on several of
these many years ago that were used in shipboard radio rooms, but I'm
getting too old to attempt reworking them at this ti
