The B and C models had a spark gap across a 350 K 2 watt resistor on the HV
to alleviate that problem. I installed one in my A model and have not had a
problem. Of course I don't try to over modulate either.

Do you guys with GK500s do the trick with the reverse diode string
from final h.v. to ground with a resistor in series with the diodes,
the value of which is the final impedance, so that if you modulate
the B+ down to zero the mod. transformer secondary still has a
resistor load that is the same as the final Z? The diodes only
conduct for the instance the B+ is clipped off. They have to have a
total PIV that is one or two KV higher than the positive modulated B+
